Santa Teresa Event Recap

On August 10th, Pupcycled hosted an event at Santa Teresa Library where all volunteers could stop by to contribute to our cause. From ten to noon, a total of 25 volunteers stopped by to create toys.

At every event, Pupcycled sets a goal for the number of toys we want to make by the end so that we can continue working towards our total goal in realistic increments. Thanks to our amazing volunteers, we were able to make a total of 76 toys, exceeding our total goal for this event.

At this event, we were able to make all of our different variations of toys—sewn, braided loop, and lanyard-like tug toys. Pupcycled focuses more so on braided loop toys, some with handles and others without as well as plush toys in both bone and heart shapes.

To Pupcycled, our community matters the most (along with the shelter dogs we work so hard for!). Not only do we appreciate the hard work volunteers put into creating toys, but we also cherish the invaluable connections that we form at these events. As Olivia, our team founder, put it: “It was so amazing meeting and talking to all these people from our communities, especially seeing their interest in Pupcycled’s mission. Some of my favorite moments at Santa Teresa were, at the beginning of the event, seeing the ‘Aha!’ expression as volunteers figured out how to make their first toy, and after the event, hearing people talk about upcycling toys at home. All our volunteers' positivity and kindness make our goals and mission worthwhile.” Here at Pupcycled, our events go beyond the process of creating and donating toys — they are about reaching out to a community that cares just as much about pets.

If you want to stay updated with Pupcycled future events so you will be able to participate, you can find more information at https://www.pupcycled.org/events. We look forward to seeing you there!
