Things to Know Before Coming to Pupcycled Events!

As a dog-toy-making organization, Pupcycled wants to ensure the safety and well-being of all our volunteers by implementing a few policies. This is so that events can be a smooth and enjoyable experience where volunteers can make the most impact and have fun!

The types of activities Pupcycled holds at these events are as stated: dog-toy creation. With donated clothes from our beloved community, we upcycle fabric into durable toys for dogs to play with. At each of these events, we create sewing, lanyard rope, and braided loop toys. All of these are our partnered shelters dogs' favorite toys to play with! These events really contribute to shelters as we donate the toys we make at events to shelters free of cost so shelter dogs can have more toys to play with and have a better time at these shelters.

Our events are family-friendly, but we like to require adult supervision for children under the age of 12 for safety purposes. When we create toys, we use scissors to cut strips—and while the likelihood is low—injuries can happen and so we like to prevent these sorts of harm. Additionally, younger kids may not have the motor skills to braid or use “adult” scissors, and parent supervision is needed! Since events typically only have 1-2 Pupcycled volunteers, cooperation with all the wonderful parents ensures we can have safe and fun events!

Registration is quite simple. On our website, we have our calendar which has our list of events that volunteers can attend! We love to see familiar and new faces and connect with the purpose of creating a better life for sheltered dogs through our toys. For some libraries, they display our events on their websites and have sign ups for registrations to see the interested amount of people.

For clothing, this is up to your discretion. Since our events range from one hour to sometimes four hours long, a lot of the work is done sitting down—however, you can stand too—so clothes you can comfortably sit in are suggested. Because we don’t work with supplies like paint or staining materials, you don’t need to worry about the clothes you wear much. Casual clothing is highly recommended!

As always, take care of your health! When you come to events, bring water for yourself. Most libraries we host events at do have fountains in case you can not bring a bottle of water.

We are super excited to see you soon at our next Pupcycled event! Whether you’re a first timer or a regular attendee, we hope you have a fun and meaningful experience while supporting our mission to create a happier life for our furry friends. Our events are not just for community and crafts, but also to form and find a community. Come ready to make new connections and have a great time creating toys! We look forward to seeing you there!
